Especially the last paragraph. It's only matter of when, not if, your significant other will fail you. And I actually believe that when you understand and accept that fact it makes your relationship stronger. Because when you inevitably get hurt it's easier to forgive the other person. I've known plenty of people who bailed because it suddenly wasn't perfect anymore and in their mind if it wasn't perfect it clearly wasn't the right relationship. When Katie and I got married six and a half years ago, we knew it would be tough. But we made a commitment that there would be no magical escape hatch. And it has been tough.
