Forgotten God is a good book--easy to read, as well.

About your post: yes.

The heart of your comment is right on the money, but the initial wording betrays part of the problem: our typical concept of what church is.

"In America," it should say, "we have a church BUILDING on every corner." We must thoroughly re-work and re-imagine our understanding of what the Church is, first of all.

Church is not a building; church is not an event; church is a people. Further (because on this point so many people agree, yet miss the actual ramifications), church is not just a people who meet in a building; and church is not just a people who attend an event; church is simply us--born-again, blood-washed believers in Jesus. Our gatherings together are but momentary expressions and out-workings of a continual life lived with another in true community.

Are we a true community of believers first before being common attendees of a particular event that meets in a particular building? Or vice versa.

Not really what you're getting at, but I just wanted to dovetail on the words "church" and "place" found in your post :)

Keep seeking Him . . . peace!
