It seems to me that things which impact us on a deep level fill a void in us, or teach us something new, or otherwise change us.
Though it might be fun and exciting to experience these things, the fun and excitment is kind secondary.  
When we seek out replication, we&#039;re really running after the buzz of the thing, the fun, the excitement, the newness, but the buzz was never the point.
As you allude to, we&#039;ve already been there, done that.  We&#039;ve already learned the lessons, filled the void, what have you.</description>
