A thought on vacation, 1

When was the last time you took a risk? When was the last time you took a chance or a free fall and could only depend on God’s faithfulness to see that risk turn to “fruit”? If we’re comfortable, the fruits probably on its way to rotting since the last time you reaped a harvest. It’s planting time again! It’s jumping time! It’s not sitting time anymore.

  1. I think it’s a little complicated, though. Because Satan used almost exactly the same metaphor to Jesus: “Just jump off the temple, Jesus. You know the angels will catch you.” And Jesus seems pretty clear that this is the wrong way to go.

  2. it’s also just like Satan to use a perfectly good metaphor and mess with it.

  3. I would rebuttal your thought though Jeff, by mentioning that the risk was not jumping off the building or the temple. He could have done it easily, right? The risk for Him was not using those things and to continue to remain in the will of the Father.

  4. Yeah, I’m mostly with you guys after having thought about what you say… I guess it comes back to what the content of our hearts is, when we take the risk…

We all know that the servant who was too catious (who just buried the talents) was rebuked. I wonder, though, if a servant might also get rebuked for being too reckless. If a servant, for example, had invested God’s money in some sort of crazy investment scheme… Even if the person had a good heart and did it to Glorify God, would he say something like, I called you to be wise/shrewd as a serpent, why would you be so foolish?
