Adding to the noise

This week at Fellowship Holden, we’re going to be talking about the noise in our lives, and how it keeps us from hearing the message of Christ. The noise is everywhere. Sometimes it seems as though you can’t shut it out. So let’s try to list all of the things that constitute noise in our lives. I’ll start, then I’m going to need your help.
Music – This is a huge one for me. I listen and listen and listen, until I can’t stay in silence any more.
Television – Gotta have my DVR!
Blogs – I suppose blogs are a visual representation of noise.
All right, your turn. What’s the noise in your life?

Music is definitely one for me. I can’t even ride in the car long without the urge to turn the radio on. It doesn’t have to be music in the car, anything will do. I don’t fully appreciate silence. I think it’s the stimulation that comes from all the noise that has created an addiction in me.
It’s interesting, the distinction between music and noise is really how you feel about it. Have you ever watched a 60′s or 70′s TV show that had that annoying paino music that just sounds like somebody beating on the keys? It was supposed to be all deep and experimental. The wierd thing is, if you randomly made those same keys hit by dropping something on a keyboard, then it wouldn’t count as music. There aren’t many things where the intent of the creator and the views of the listener actually define what a thing is.
i don’t know if this really responds to the question at all… but these thoughts, I guess, are the noise that runs through my head.
Did you HAVE to, Marty? ‘Cause, I was kind of okay with the noise in my life, and here I’ve been without power for almost a week. Thanks a lot.
