Where were you?

Sep 11 2008

On September 11th, 2001, I received a call in between classes (I taught at a Christian school in Lunenburg, Massachusetts) from my friend Cj Maloney that there had been an attack on the towers in New York.  It was a beautiful day, and I remember looking up to God and asking “why”?

Where were you?

  1. I was in my church office when my friend from Access Hollywood called me from ny city saying “a plane just hit a building here in the city.”. The rest of the day was spent in shock and checking on friends in the city…

  2. Driving down 271 in Cleveland on my way to Medina to visit a client. Funny that you wrote this. I asked the very same question on my blog last night but hadn’t seen yours until today. Just goes to show the impact of that moment and that question.

  3. I was in orientation for my 2nd year at RHEMA, and Tony Cooke came and said “a plane hit the WTC.” I leaned over to my friend Randy and said “you don’t just ‘hit’ the WTC.” After the report of the 2nd plane hit and we dismissed, I remember saying “from here on out, well always ask ‘where were you when…’”

  4. I was in Geometry class. Our teacher was gone for a few minutes and the class was having a grand old time, then he silently wheeled in a TV and plugged it in, just in time for me to watch the second tower get hit. The first thing that ran through my mind believe it or not, was my favorite song at the time that I listened to every day for the whole summer: Bombs over Broadway by Squad Five-O. After that, I just watched, eager to see what, if anything would happen, and if we’d find out who dun it.
