A Car for Claire

In July, we had an event at “the FC” where the church gave out money to the people attending the service. The money was in increments of $5, $10, and $50, and those who were given the money were asked to decide what the best thing was to do with the funds that they were given. They couldn’t spend it on themselves, and they had to pray about their decision. I was so encouraged to see many of the stories here.
But I never decided what to do with my money, and I’ve now decided what to do after much prayer and thought. There is a elderly lady in my church (who I know will never read this, so please don’t tell her), named Claire. Claire has an amazing story and she is a faithful attender of Fellowship Church. I’ve been fortunate enough to be in a life group with Claire, and know what an incredible woman she is, and how she is growing every day in her faith. Claire was the first female in Worcester who owned her own cab as well.
Years have gone by, and now Claire makes do with what she has on a limited budget, and what has recently occurred is that her car is about finished. She really doesn’t have the money to get a new or even used car, and I fear that one day she is going to break down, be stranded, and after that, not be able to get out like she does now. Though Claire is well into her 70′s, she is quite mobile and often gives rides to people who live in her building.
I could have done this as a church, like announced it or something like that, but I felt that I should just do this personally, as a person who received $5 for being at the service that day. I want to be able to do what it is I suggested everyone else did too. So here’s my question:
Will you help me raise money (my goal is $2,000) for a decent car for Claire?
I’d love to answer any questions you might have about the endeavor. This is not a scam, and I really am her pastor. Please email me at martyholman@gmail.com with any questions. If you’d rather just give it to me than you can do that too. I’ve had this blog for about 11 months now and this is the first time I’ve done this. I think it’s that important. I’ll leave the donation button up through the rest of August. At the end of the day…
I’d love to be able to say that Claire has been taken care of.

Marty – I don’t know who C is… can you make some kind of description so we can all know her? Is $2000 enough for a “minivan”? It would give her more space for picking up the ones w/o transpo!
…um, well… totally, not that I KNOW who she is would be any different…right? I either give or I do’t give based on what God is telling me, not based on my personal description of Claire. I’m a loser!
