I finished Barack Obama’s Dreams From My Father last week, and finished Tales From Earthsea at nearly the same time, as I read them concurrently. Both come recommended!
The most recent book I “finished” was “American Heroes In The Fight Against Radical Islam”. It was written by Oliver North and edited by a guy I have gotten to know over the last couple of years. You won’t find a better account from the ground level of what has happened and is happening in Iraq.
Right now I’m reading:
John Eldredge’s “Walking With God” Sort of a spiritual journal over a year’s time. There are places that are absolutely transcendent. He’s got really interesting nuts-and-bolts observations about hearing God’s voice and being in constant prayer… and there’s other places, where he’s almost legalistic and Harry Potter-esque in his emphasis on the details of how to live life as if everything is about spiritual warfare. I’m really quite conflicted.
I’m also reading “The Geography of Bliss” A fascinating memoir of a man who traveled all over the world to the places reported to be the most happy spots in the world and tries to uncover why this is so… Really interesting stuff.
I’m also reading “The Protector’s War” A sci-fi novel based on the interesting premise: “What if internal combustion engines and electronics suddenly stopped working, sending us into a new middle ages?” The premise is a bit more interesting than the execution. There’s some odd pagan elements and a bit of an anti-Christian bias. Overall, a mediocre read.
Al, explain this “Bible” you mention. I don’t believe I’ve ever heard of it. How would you explain this little book of yours?

I read the Bible. You should definitely read it.
Actually, the last book I completed was “What to expect when expcting.”
I read “If You Give a Pig a Pancake” by Laura Numeroff. If you have any toddlers, it’s a must-read.
